In August this year, I went to the YWCA Adelaide’s SHE Leads Conference, which was held at the National Wine Center (Amazing venue) and was one of my highlights of the year. It was an event which shows why more women need to pick up leadership roles in society and it featured some inspirational speakers.
If you ever get the chance, GO TO IT! It does cost a bit of money, but with the skills that the conference gives you, your employer may see the benefits and pay for you to attend.
Anyway, at the end, we were given a piece of card and were told to write down the three most important insights I had at the conference. Then, a month later, they would post it to us as a reminder of what we learnt.
A month later, I had forgotten what I had written, so I was very excited to read it.
This is what I wrote:
Follow the 5 P’s:
- People – Surround yourself with the right people
- Passion – Follow your passions
- Purpose – Have a purpose for what you are doing; what do you want to achieve?
- Personality – Bring your personality to what you do
- Perseverance – Just keep going, no matter what
Be Bold, Brave, and never fear failure!
Get a mentor, use their knowledge. Be a mentor, help people, teach people, and share your sources & networks with them.
I hope that this may have been a spark of inspiration to at least one person!
If anyone DOES go, here’s a tip: Bring a friend! 🙂
